Come one, come all! We have a free sled hockey clinic at Ice Town in Riverside on Sunday, Sept. 4 from 2 to 5. This event is sponsored by PossAbilites and Loma Linda University Medical Center, along with USA Hockey. Make sure you note that it is at Ice Town in Riverside...a different location than previous events.

It's for kids and adults, ages 5-105, and that most-likely means you qualify. We have helmets, pads, sleds, and sticks for you to borrow, so all you need to bring is yourself and a jacket (it is an ice rink). Of course, if you have your own hockey gear, you're welcome to bring that, but if you don't happen to have your own hockey gear, we have some for you.
You don't need any sled hockey experience in order to participate. In fact, most people who come out are beginners who have never tried it before.
Our clinicians this year are Rico Roman, Forward on this year's US National Sled Hockey Team and Jen Yung Lee, goalie on this year's US National Team. We'll also have special guest Shin Kyungmoon, a member of South Korea's national team. They will be out on the ice with you, hitting the puck around with you.
Below is a video Shin Kyungmoon made of himself playing sled hockey. You can see that he has skills! I'm sure he'll slow it down a bit for the beginners at the clinic.
Last year's clinic brought somewhere in the neighborhood of 80-100 participants, and we know that there are plenty more physically disabled people in Southern California who would love to try sled hockey if they only knew about it. Spread the word to people you know. If you tell two people, and they tell two people, and they tell two people...then we can get the word out to everyone in the area. (Sorry this sounds like a shampoo commercial for those who lived through the 70's.)
